Resource Plans and Time cards

Resource Plan is approved for a project, why aren't time cards automatically created for those users? Also, when a timecard is filled, the actual hours against the related project/task are reflected on the project page. However, when the said time card is rejected, it does not modify the actual hours. Also, anybody with the timecard_admin role is allowed to approve/reject any timecard. Shouldn't this be restricted to the respective Project Managers?

Are you wanting time cards to automatically populate with tasks that are assigned to a person?

Ryan Manning can you help answer Mahima's questions?

Your question confuses me.

In other PPM tools that I have used, every user has a timesheet by default and the user can add assigned tasks to it and enter time against them,

In ServiceNow however, according to my understanding so far, when a user accesses a project/task, or is assigned to a task, a time card is generated for the user against that project/task. This is not the case for resources approved in a resource plan. Nor is there a facility available to the Project Manager to create them manually for a project resource.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

The same business rule that we use for creating Time Cards for Assignments can be applied to Resource Management, however, you want to drive Time Cards off of the Allocation records (instead of the Resource Plan). Note that the Allocations are linked to the Resource Plan which is how we roll up Actual information to the Resource Plan. We didn't add this OOTB b/c of the conflict with Assignments. You can extend the Business Rule to auto-populate with Planned Allocations (hours) as well. Regarding the admin point, we are adding a Time Card User role to our Fuji release. So, you'll give submitters that role and you probably want to give PMs and Functional Managers the Time Card Admin role by default.

I hope this helps....
