Hi Community,
We are using SPM and the Strategic Planning plugin and we are confused about how are we supposed to maintain the goals in the system.
In SPM there is a [goal] table, where goals could be related to strategies and used by Projects and Portfolios.
In Strategic Planning we have [sn_gf_goal] table.
As a part of Guided Setup for Strategic Planner, we are able to run an on-demand scheduled job "Migrate goals, strategies..." which transfers the data from "goal" table to "sn_gf_goal". This, however, is only supposed to be a 1-time activity, not to be repeated.
In this support article we are instructed to import data into sn_gf_goal via spreadsheet import: Import goals and targets from the spreadsheet - Product Documentation: Tokyo (servicenow.com)
Question is: what is the right approach on keeping both tables constantly in sync? Or are both goal and sn_gf_goal to be maintained separately by manual record creation or import of spreadsheets?
@Juergen Lorryperhaps you could guide?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi @T_Fesenko ,
Hope you are doing well.
The new goal framework was introduced in San Diego release. Couple of reasons why it was introduced is also worth mentioning here:
Old Goal Framework:
A) Used to have Strategies.
B) Basically allowed to associate one target per role.
C) On planning items such as demands and project etc. there used to be goals and strategies list.
New Goal Framework:
A) Strategies of old goal framework is now replaced with 'Strategic priorities'
B) Allows to associate more than one targets to a goal. This is how most of our customers manage the roles in real time in association to multiple targets.
C) Demand, project, Program can be associated with a primary goal and can also have secondary goals (via 'Associated Goals' related list)
Now coming to the point of co-existence of old and new goal framework - Yes, technically both can co-exist however recommendation is to actively use the new gaols framework.
Having shared the background & the recommendation, interested to know the business use case as to why you would like to co-exist both old and new goals framework?
Have a Great Weekend!
