I want to know the purpose of  'Update Resource Capacity' & 'Update Resource Aggregates' UI Actions available on User profile under Resource menu.

I want to know the difference and when to use what?

Hi Subhash,

Resource capacity is the total capacity trend for the resources, which is derived from the user or group's schedule. Group capacity is rolled up from the schedules of all the members. and resource aggregate allows you to compute aggregate statistics about existing table and column data.

Hope this helps,

The "Update Resource Capacity" UI action will update the capacity data for the user in the tables 'Resource Aggregates Daily', 'Resource Aggregates Weekly' and 'Resource Aggregates Monthly' (for a specified date range).   So for example, if the user needs a new schedule applied (for example, they are going part-time and only working 4 hours a day), then an Admin would use this function to update the user's capacity information in the Aggregates tables.

The "Update Resource Aggregates" UI action syncs 'Resource Allocation Daily' data for the specified user to the tables 'Resource Aggregates Daily', 'Resource Aggregates Weekly' and 'Resource Aggregates Monthly' (for a specified date range).   However, my understanding is that if the 'Resource Allocation Daily' data changes, the system automatically updates the 'Resource Aggregates Daily', 'Resource Aggregates Weekly' and 'Resource Aggregates Monthly' tables anyway, so i'm not sure that there is any need to have or use the "Update Resource Aggregates" UI action.
