Hi community,
I am using Enhancement in SPM. But I am stuck at the overall process, especially on the OOTB state:
How do you interpret them and how do you use them?

@major li , So sorry for the late response!
In ServiceNow Demand Management, once a demand is approved, it can generate:
Project
Enhancement
Change Request
So yes, Enhancement is already defined OOTB as one of the outputs of a demand.
Note : The key is to use Demand for intake/approval and Enhancement for delivery, with governance rules to decide when to bypass Demand.
If you find above solution as helpful, please mark it as accepted and close the thread.
Thank you!

hi @Shashank_Jain ,
Your help is greatly appreciated.
The system can generate both story and enhancement. And in order to put enhancement into a product backlog, I have to create a story from the enhancement. from process POV, do you think if it is necessary? is enhancement redundant here?

Hi @major li ,
In my organization, the workflow is:
Demand → Epic/Enhancement → Stories → Solution Architects → Developer assignment.
Enhancements are high-level features created from approved demands. Stories are then created under the Enhancement by BAs, and Solution Architects design the solution. Developers work on these Stories.
So in our process, creating Stories under an Enhancement is necessary the Enhancement itself serves as an overview and is not directly worked on by developers
Thanks & Regards,
Muhammad Iftikhar

Yes, creating a story from an enhancement makes sense if your backlog only accepts stories. Enhancements are not redundant—they are useful at intake—but they should be converted and tracked as stories for delivery.
If this all conversation helped you, could you please accept the solutions and close the thread. That would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I am still confused, since the demand is already the intake process, but why enhancement is additional for the intake? is there a difference in purpose/ steps between 2 "intake process"?
