When a project task has a "Start on specific date" does the project automatically start on that date?

When a project gets created and a project task has no predecessors and has "Start on specific date" does the project automatically starts and changes to work in progress when the date hits?     I don't recall that it should, but we have some of our users stating that it used too or that it did. Is there anyway to verify from you guys?

Hello Tou. Project Tasks with Start On time constraint don't auto-start. However, if that date is in the past, and the project is started, all such tasks will get converted to Start ASAP. And if they are first level tasks (with the project as their parent), they will become Work In Progress.

Hope this helps.

i worked on project management last year. I dont think the state changes automatically.

That's what I thought too. Since going to Geneva, the Project module did cause some headaches for us. So that's why I wasn't 100% sure if it did or not.

right, i worked on Eureka, not sure if Geneva has some wonders.

but basically 'start on a specific date' is not a feature that is tied to project management its a general thing for all tasks
