Can I hide the filters on the Slushbucket screen?

I have a filter set up on the screen where I assign group members to group records.
I don't want users to be able to adjust the filter
Is there a way to make the filter read-only or hidden?

Hiding filters this way seemed to make any filters I set in the list control have no effect.

If you hide that filter then user can't see and hence can't add filter and is forced to search through and then add

I'd like to hide buttons and other items while keeping the filter effect set for the list control. Is this possible?

you can use the UI script based approach which has DOM manipulation.
