I want to retain custom interactive filter information even after refreshing the dashboard

The purpose is to retain the contents of a custom interactive filter after clicking refresh dashboard.

The OOTB interactive filter retains information even after refreshing, so I would like to keep it in the same state. Is there a way?

I once read somewhere that the settings on the OOB ones are being stored in the user profile, so after refreshing, the system still knows the previous setting. I have no clue on how that is done or if that is even possible for custom ones as well.
