Hello @NixonA
To check if Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (Ham) are enabled in your ServiceNow instance, follow these steps:
1. Check for Installed Plugins:
- SAM:
- Go to the Filter Navigator and type "Plugins."
- Click on Plugins under System Definition.
- In the Plugins list, search for "Software Asset Management Professional" or "SAM - Foundation."
- If the plugin is installed and active, SAM is enabled.
- Ham:
- Similarly, in the Plugins list, search for "Hardware Asset Management."
- If the plugin is installed and active, HAM is enabled.
2. Check for Application Menus:
- SAM:
- Go to the Filter Navigator and type "Software Asset Management."
- If the "Software Asset Management" menu appears, SAM is likely enabled.
- Ham:
- Go to the Filter Navigator and type "Hardware Asset Management."
- If the "Hardware Asset Management" menu appears, HAM is likely enabled.
3. Check System Properties:
- For a more detailed check, you can also look into system properties related to SAM and HAM by navigating to System Properties and searching for properties prefixed with sam. and ham..
If you found my response helpful, I would greatly appreciate it if you could mark it as "Accepted Solution" and "Helpful."
Your support not only benefits the community but also encourages me to continue assisting. Thank you so much!

For HAM you can check if the Hardware Asset Dashboard module is showing up in the application navigator to know whether HAM is enabled in your instance.
Similarly for SAM check for the Software Asset Analytics Dashboard by navigating to Software Asset > Overview.
Thanks!
P.S. Please mark as Helpful if I was able to clear your doubt.

Hi there,
Is this about your PDI or about a company instance? Anyway, just like you would check any plugin... Just verify the plugins 🙂
Software Asset Management you can enable on a PDI. Hardware Asset Management you can't enable on a PDI.
For a company instance... licensing!
Kind regards,
