It’s interesting enough that this is enough study that this is off the grid formality. I am very interested in learning more about the service now opportunity to understand technology and specifically what actual skill I would need to enhance or like to enhance. From my understanding this is not an industry certification. so what optimal value would Service now bring as a capability for tech-support?

Fundamentally, it depends on where you currently stand in the industry.
What I understand is that ServiceNow is based on a gold standard IT infrastructure that can help hone highly transferable skills that you can apply on your technical support journey.
to name a few:
Ticket handling best practices
Orchestrating automated technical workflows and escalation procedures best practices
Creating and maintaining knowledgebase best practices
