Hello,

I am planning to get CSA certification. I am an HRA , and i am planning to transition into HR Tech. As far as my understanding by passing exam i can get only theoritical knowledge but it will not provide me hands on experience. In real world, passing exam is not suffiecient enough. i need to be experince enough to work with senior system administrator. Does ServiceNow offer guided projects or past hackathons arviced for practice. I have looking for hands on projects which are beyond just certifications. Certification standalone is not enough to get a job.

ahoy @NoshiN,

To be honest, passing the CSA isn't even standing at the starting line. If you think of getting hired as a 100 metre sprint, having CSA is like buying a pair of running shoes so you can start training for that race.

It’s a good foundation and maybe you can get a job without CSA (as same as you can run 100 m in non-running shoes), but it will be just more difficult. Getting a job with CSA alone is really tough, not gonna lie. You will need deeper knowledge (more running equipment).

Not saying this to discourage you, rather to help you set healthy expectations. Let me share these resources with you to extended the knowledge:

  • Pick a ServiceNow Career Path that matches your interests.
  • We’ll help you start at the right level based on your skills.
  • A ServiceNow Credential gives you industry recognition.
  • It proves your investment and boosts your professional value.

Learning Plans at the Developer Portal

  • Request your Personal Developer Instance (PDI), your own ServiceNow sandbox to practice safely.
  • You can try almost everything for free (except a few advanced features like AI).
  • Explore guides, tutorials, blogs, and documentation to learn more.
  • Short and self-paced modules.
  • Best practices, references,

Best of luck!

Hi @NoshiN

It's not just theoretical knowledge that you'll gain. How much you learn ultimately depends on your own effort and curiosity.

  • With the CSA course, you'll get access to a lab instance where you can practice hands-on.
  • You can also create your own Personal Developer Instance (PDI) and practice different use cases.
  • Explore scenarios shared by the ServiceNow community, YouTube, and other forums to strengthen your understanding and gain practical experience.
  • If you want more exposure and aren't currently working on a ServiceNow project, consider taking up freelance work to gain hands-on experience. It will help you apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios, build confidence, and strengthen your practical skills.
