CIS - Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM)

Arnab22

Hi,

I hold a CSA and CIS-ITSM certification, and I received an email regarding the CIS Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM). It appears this is a new certification that must be completed. Can someone confirm if this is true? Also, if I go to now learning, I don't see any designated course or training, unlike the other certification exams. Can someone share the exact link to the training course?

Thanks

Hi @Arnab22 ,

Yes, Certified Implementation Specialist - Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM) (CIS-DF (CMDB and CSDM)) is now compulsory to take if you have ITSM certificate and should be completed by Dec 2026.

Also its compulsory for other certification too, you can follow this thread to know more:

It's true and it's a load of hooey for those who took the CIS - ITSM for basic exposure and understanding. Many of us don't need to know the nuts and bolts of the CMBD, so for us, it's nothing more than an unnecessary and added workload and more money for ServiceNow. I love ServiceNow but find this recent news quite unfair and upsetting. I am stunned that ServiceNow would threaten to take away a person's earned certification if not completed.
