I got CIS-ITSM Exam Voucher during Washington Release. Can I use it for Xanadu release as well?

I have completed the CIS-ITSM certification course last year (Sep 2024) and got the voucher. At that time, ServiceNow version was "Washington".

Today, I booked my certification exam for next month(Sep 2025). My question is that , currently ServiceNow release is Xanadu. How should I prepare for the exam. Questions will be till "Washington" release only as I have completed the course for Washington Release or it will also contain the questions related to Xanadu release.

Please guide.

Hi @as00929632 ,

Yes you can as voucher is valid for 1 year.  In 1 year releases may change so you can utilize it for other releases as well. Only 3-5 questions will be from newer release rest of the questions will be from previous release only as admin concepts will not change. so chill read release notes of Xanadu and prepare well.

If my answer helped you, please mark it - solution accepted.

The exam will be on Yokohama release. Every new release ServiceNow would add new questions relevant to the new version release. So you can expect some questions from Xanadu/Yokohama new features. However, the learning from the course version you took are still valid. I would advise following prep plan for this exam.

1. Go through the core course again (review mode for Washington release or even better the Xanadu/Yokohama version course again).

2. Practice any labs. Do not skip them.

3. If you don't want to re-do the new version course again then release notes for Xanadu & Yokohama for ITSM is a must.
4. Make good attention to the Ebook that was provided with the course. At least for this I would try to register the new version course and access the latest version of the Ebook.

5. Practice any mock tests if you feel the need for it but never rely on the answers found on public forums/sites. Verify and vet the answers yourself.

If my response proves useful, please indicate by selecting ‘Accept as Solution’ and ‘Helpful’. This action benefits both the community and me.

Hello @as00929632 ,

I can answer this more accurately as I recently took the CIS-ITSM exam about four months ago. You don’t need to worry too much — typically only 3–4 questions change between releases, so the majority of what you studied for Washington will still apply. If you prepare well, you’ll be able to handle those changes easily.

Just to note, a topic has been added: Service Portfolio Management, which carries a weightage of around 5%. That means you can expect about 2–3 questions from this area, so make sure to review it before your exam. I’m not certain in which release it was introduced, but it’s a topic many people don't look too much while   preparing — so don’t skip it.

Hope it helps!

If this works, please mark it as helpful/accepted — it keeps me motivated and helps others find solutions.

Hi @as00929632 ,

mainly all questions on problem change knowledge and Incident, Request

on latest release there is hardly 1-2 questions

So kindly prepare only on core concepts and and there roles that is enough to crack the exam

Thank you
