I am a B.com graduate (completed in 2009) and since then I have been working in call center and in back office. From past 8 years I am working in an IT company, but my job is non-technical. Since I came to know about this tool, I find it interesting and want to learn it and also want to switch my career into ServiceNow.
But since I do not have any knowledge about ServiceNow Development, coding or scripting or whatever is needed for it should I switch to this or not.
Please guide me how and what should I learn to get into ServiceNow admin or development.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hi @AzrShk
I’m a ServiceNow Trainer and would be happy to guide you on this. I completed my B.Com in the 2005 batch and built my career in ServiceNow from there.
Since you already have industry experience, there's nothing major to worry about—but I want to be honest: Breaking into ServiceNow as a fresher is becoming more competitive nowadays.
If you're planning to switch to ServiceNow, be prepared to put in a lot of hard work, as you'll be learning an entirely new platform and technology. First, it's important to figure out where you feel most comfortable—whether it's scripting, development, or consulting. There are many roles in ServiceNow, but to begin any of them, it's crucial to understand the basics.
I recommend starting with the CSA course on Now Learning. Begin going through the course and see if you're genuinely interested in learning more. If you find yourself enjoying it, then you're definitely on the right path, mate!
I am happy to guide you more as and when required.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Hi @AzrShk
I have basic knowledge of ServiceNow platform, which I have got from my work experience and by watching some videos on YouTube.
Atul: Keep watching that, also you can follow my channel as well where you get more content
I will watch the videos on Now learning also. Thanks for your suggestion.
Atul: Yes, Now learning courses are free now so take a benefiits.
I am confused because I am from non-technical background and when I check the job openings on various job portal, I saw almost all job openings are for ServiceNow Developer and for that I think I need to learn scripting or coding. So not sure how that will work for a person who is from non-technical background. If I learn scripting, will I get a job and most importantly after getting job surviving in the job is more important.
Atul:
Who says there's only a developer role in ServiceNow? I’m a BPC and have worked as a Business Analyst (BA)—a role that isn’t 100% technical but leans more toward the functional side.
There are actually many roles in ServiceNow: Admin (though fewer in number), BA, BPC, Tester, and more—each of which can be a starting point for your ServiceNow journey.
The key is to build a strong foundation. Even if you're from a non-technical background, you can approach ServiceNow from a functional perspective. Learn how the system works behind the scenes—understand tables, components, and how they're connected.
From there, you can confidently take the Business Analyst learning path available on Now Learning and shape your career accordingly.
