Hello everyone!
I’m very happy to share that I’m currently preparing for the CAD Certification exam, and I’m hoping to get some guidance from this community.
While going through different forums and websites looking for study guides and resources, I’ve noticed that a lot of what’s available is either outdated, incomplete, or not aligned with the current exam objectives. Because of that, I’m starting to build my own notes and flashcards — but before I go too far, I thought I’d reach out here.
If anyone has:
Updated study materials or checklists for the current CAD exam
Flashcards or question banks they’ve used successfully
Tips on how to structure preparation (timelines, practice tasks, key domains)
Any recommended courses, labs, or practice exams
…I’d be very grateful if you could share them!
My goal is to create a comprehensive reference set aligned with the official exam blueprint and then share it back here for others who are preparing too.
Thanks so much in advance for any help or guidance you can offer! 😌

Hi,
Great to see your interest in the CAD. I recently passed CAD exam successfully.
Here's some points you can consider:
1. Go through the "Scripting in ServiceNow" and "Application Development Fundamentals" courses. (They are included with training subscriptions.)
2. Try building simple apps in your PDI (Personal Development Instance). For example, Create tables, forms, UI Policies, Client Scripts and access controls. - These are directly tested in the exam.
3. Focus on data schema, business rules, client scripts, flow designer and application security - These are high-weighted areas.
4. Create flash cards for Glide APIs, dictionary attributes and roles.
5. Review common scripts (Glide Record, GlideAjax, GlideForm).
Preparation Strategy:
- Spent at least 2-3 weeks with daily practice in your PDI.
- Break prep into domains:
- Application User Interface and Security
- Application Automation
- Application Development
- Designing and creating application
- You can find unofficial practise questions on some forums (Exam topics, UDEMY) but rely more on your hands-on practice since the exam tests applied knowledge.
- Finally join discussions here and ask doubts- community is super helpful.
You're on the right track by making your own notes and flashcards.
Good luck, you'll do great.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Great to see your interest in the CAD Certification exam 👏. I recently prepared for the same and can share a few useful pointers:
🔹 Official Resources:
Start with CAD exam blue print.
Go through the “Application Development Fundamentals” and “Scripting in ServiceNow” courses (they’re included with training subscriptions).
🔹 Practice & Hands-on:
Try building simple apps in your PDI (Personal Developer Instance). For example, create tables, forms, UI policies, client scripts, and access controls – these are directly tested in the exam.
Focus on data schema, business rules, client scripts, Flow Designer, and application security – these are high-weightage areas.
🔹 Study Materials & Flashcards:
Create flashcards for Glide APIs, dictionary attributes, and roles.
Review common scripts (e.g., GlideRecord, GlideAjax, GlideForm).
Go through sample questions available on the ServiceNow Community – they help you get a feel for exam wording.
🔹 Preparation Strategy:
Spend at least 2–3 weeks with daily practice in your PDI.
Break prep into domains:
Application user interface & security
Application automation
Application development
Designing and creating applications
After finishing each domain, do a self-check by building something small in your instance.
🔹 Mock Exams:
You can find unofficial practice questions on some forums, but rely more on your hands-on practice since the exam tests applied knowledge.
Finally, join discussions here and ask doubts – the community is super helpful. You’re on the right track by making your own notes and flashcards 👍.
Good luck, you’ll do great 🚀!
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness ny selecting "Accept as Solution" and "Helpful". This action benifits both the community and to me.
