Business Rule OOTB Upgrade Vancouver

Hello, We are going to start with the Upgrade tasks to the Vancouver version, our doubt: We have several customized OOTB Business Rules, in the Review phase they appear in collision with the OOTB Business Rules, which recommendation is better? Rethink those custom OOTB BRs as new custom BRs and keep them separate from the OOTB either Make a merge of the new BR OOTB with the custom part that we already have in the instance. Thank you.

The opinions differ a bit.

Personally I like to keep using the OOTB business rules, and customize them.

This way within the skipped updates I will always see if something has changed in the OOTB BR, and I can adapt my customizations to that.

If you set the OOTB br inactive, and create a copy and customize that, it is harder to keep your customized one in sync with OOTB changes.
