Upgrade Preview in Upgrade Center, how does it work??

Looking at Upgrade Preview.  We click GO, get a list of "skipped" updates.  Then you can set your resolution here.

OK, everyone knows that part...It's documented everywhere...My question is:  What happens now.

You have a list of updates that you revert or keep listed in Upgrade Preview for say Xanadu.

What does this do?   Does it revert things right when you say "revert" as you are updating the Upgrade Preview for Xanadu?  Or does it do the revert when Xanadu is installed?   OR does it do nothing.

That is/are my questions.  What does the Upgrade Preview updates/entries do/mean??   IS there something else that needs to be done?

Hi there,

"OR does it do nothing."

Indeed, Upgrade Preview does nothing. It only gives you a preview 😀 You also can't compare records in depth etc.. It's only a preview what is predicted to be skipped (so not 100% accurate!)

Upgrade preview is nice for some quick numbers and in case you don't have an extra instance that you can simply upgrade to do a comparison already.

Kind regards,

So selecting a resolution there does nothing?  It sounded like when you chose revert it was supposed to revert that "predicted Skip" ??

Hi @jphillips48083

Also sharing the latest experience, we ran the upgrade preview after clone and it showed only 39 skip records but when the actual upgrade happened we got 149 skip records. So this only gives a glimpse and does nothing in the background. It is like running the upgrade virtually and showing the results/conflicts.
