Upgrade timeframe question

We will be scheduling an upgrade for PROD moving from Vancouver to Washington for this Sunday starting at 7pm EST.

Is it true that the upgrade can start anytime up to 4 hours after that?  If so, are there any exceptions to that?

Check the 'Check distribution for possible upgrade' sys_trigger (scheduled job). OOB it runs once every hour to see if there is a new version for your instance. If so, it starts. So if the job runs at 1 minute before the hour, and your upgrade starts at the hour, it will take 59 minutes for the check and only then starts the upgrade.

If your job runs every 4 hours, it can indeed take 4 hours, but that's not the OOB setting.
