Figma Resources, how are they working out?

The ServiceNow design teams plan to invest time for each major release (Vancouver's next) getting the Figma files up to date with the latest widgets, components, and page templates. This will continue to include:

  • Accessibility
  • Classic Environment
  • Configurable Workspaces
  • Employee Center Pro
  • Mobile
  • Next Experience UI

We'd love to hear from you on how these resources are helping your team deliver solutions on ServiceNow. Can you share any specific project examples? Screenshots?

Also, what's missing from these libraries? Are there other Figma templates that might be helpful? We've received some requests for specific products (e.g. ShoppingHub, Risk Workspace), what might you need?

I have a personal project I will share soon.

For my day job these files have been a game changer for quickly showing what Workspaces will look like and figuring out our Employee Center. I'm thinking that https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=figma.figma-vscode-extension will come in helpful with translating our EC from design to code.

I'll keep your questions in mind and report back if needed. I remember seeing a Chris Farley avatar somewhere in the files but unfortunately I can find it now 😊

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Hi @AJ Siegel,

Many thanks to you and the ServiceNow design teams for providing these invaluable resources to the community!

I am curious to hear if you all have plans to incorporate Figma's new variables functionality into the ServiceNow components and style libraries.

I'm currently in the process of refactoring an internal design system to leverage the "design token" approach. While it is a significant lift to overhaul the files and components, I am certain there will be big efficiency gains downstream once complete.

Looking forward to hearing more about where the team is headed!

Best,

Mac

Hi Mac!

In short, yes. We are currently exploring how variables can work in our component libraries, and we're really excited about the future capabilities they can bring.

Since variables are still in beta, we are being cautious in implementing these in our community libraries. We want to make sure we prevent any potential migration issues and ensure you can customize the libraries just as easily as you can now.

Stay tuned for any future updates!

Best,

Henrik

Is there a Figma file for Manager Hub that you can send?
