Key Features
- Demo Data Enablement: Optionally load demo data to populate CMDB Workspace dashboards and cards with sample data, useful for testing and evaluation. Demo data includes charts, CMDB 360 cards, Insights tiles, and more. It is recommended not to enable demo data in production environments to avoid mixing real and sample data.
- Prerequisites:
- Required Plugins: CMDB CSDM Support, CMDB Page Templates, CMDB NLQ Search Connected (activated by default).
- Recommended Plugin: CSDM Activation for legacy lifecycle status synchronization.
- Roles: Access requires one of the following roles:
sncmdbadmin,sncmdbeditor, orsncmdbuser. Some dashboards and views may require additional roles.
- CMDB Workspace Views:
- Home View: Default view showing CMDB health summaries, intelligent search, changes, and key tasks.
- My Work View: Manage assigned CMDB Data Manager tasks such as attestations.
- CMDB 360 View: Dashboard and query tools for in-depth CMDB 360 data analysis.
- Management View: For CMDB admins, displays key activities, health indicators, and management tools.
- Insights View: Shows adoption levels of CMDB tools and features, with options to explore and install additional capabilities to optimize CMDB effectiveness.
Access and Usage
To use CMDB Workspace, navigate to Workspaces > CMDB Workspace within the ServiceNow platform. The workspace provides a user-friendly environment to monitor CMDB health, manage data tasks, and leverage advanced analytics depending on your assigned roles and configured features.

Request apps on the Store
Visit the ServiceNow Store website to view all the available apps and for information about submitting requests to the store. For cumulative release notes information for all released apps, see the ServiceNow Store version history release notes.
Enable demo data
- Cloud vs Non-cloud resources chart in the CMDB Workspace landing page and the Insights view: If Cloud Service Accounts [cmdb_ci_cloud_service_account] table exists

- Roles: To access the CMDB Workspace, you must, at a minimum, have one of the following roles, which are essential for interacting with the CMDB Workspace. Depending on which of these roles is assigned to you, you might only have access to some of the features available in the CMDB Workspace:
- sn_cmdb_admin
- sn_cmdb_editor
- sn_cmdb_user
Note:As you drill down in the CMDB Workspace, there are some dashboards and list views that require specific roles in addition to the key CMDB Admin, CMDB Editor, or CMDB User roles. - Features: CMDB Workspace provides access to a wide range of applications and features. However, for CMDB Workspace to provide meaningful reports, overviews, and trends, you must set up and configure some of those features. Setup for such features is listed under Additional requirements.
Access the CMDB Workspace
Navigate to to access CMDB Workspace.
- Home view in CMDB Workspace: View various CMDB Health aggregations, use Intelligent Search to search through the CMDB, see what changed in the CMDB, and access important tasks. This is the default view for CMDB Workspace.
- My Work view: Manage CMDB Data Manager tasks such as attestation tasks, that are assigned to you.
- CMDB 360 view: View aggregations and analysis of CMDB 360 data on a dashboard, and create CMDB 360 queries.
- Management view: View recent key activities and health indicators for the CMDB, and access management tools and dashboards (accessible only to CMDB admins) that support your management tasks.
- Insights view: View level of adoption of key CMDB tools, features, and application services. Explore benefits and install those tools and features to maximize the efficiency of your CMDB functionality.
