Default application scope for users

We have individuals that support the creation of HR Criteria or HR Response records in our production instance directly. We are wanting to have their scope default to Human Resources: Core so that when new items are created or updated, they are working in the proper scope.
We have considered using Data Filtration, User Preferences, Collaboration Descriptors & ACLs but want to know can this be even be done to default a group of users (either by role or group) to have a default application scope?

Hi @David Neustadt1  - a few questions to help answer your question.

  • Are the users making changes to the HR Core scope in a Subprod environment?
  • Are you utilizing delegated developer permissions to give them access to the scope? Or giving them a broader admin role?
  • Have they been through any training at all in regards to App Engine Studio, Citizen Development, etc?

My two cents would be if you have users that are going to be making changes in Subprod that you plan to promote to a Prod environment, you may want to consider giving them either additional training to understand how to pick the correct scope or give them access to tools like AES and Creator Studio. In AES and Creator Studio, they don't have to worry about the scope or Update Set as it's more or less selected for them. If you have went full App Engine setup and have App Engine Management Center with Pipelines working, then they really don't even need to about Update Sets.
