Application service mapping

Hi,

I am currently exploring CSDM capabilities and how it would fit into our current enterprise architecture.

I am having problems mapping application services as we have services dynamically populated by the Dynatrace Service Graph connector.

What I am hoping to achieve in a hierarchy layout a logical application service with child application services discovered by Dynatrace.

This is achievable manually however there are hundreds of services and I'm looking to achieve this in a dynamic approach.

Please diagram as example:

I have tried using Dynamic CI groups however appears services are not listed?

Hi @TomsH,

Getting the services from Dynatrace Service Graph connector replicated to ServiceNow is a good starting point.

What are your thoughts behind the hierarchical logical application service with child application services from Dynatrace?
How would you define this logical application service?

In theory, I would describe all application services as logical. They are defined as a deployed infrastructure stack, which maps quite well to what you have in Dynatrace as well.

How would you use the logical (parent) application services in your processes?

Best regards

Moritz

To dynamically map application services using CSDM and Dynatrace:

1. Create a Logical Parent Service: Manually define the top-level service in CSDM as the parent.

2. Automate Child Service Discovery: Use the Dynatrace Service Graph connector to dynamically populate child services.

3. Dynamic CI Groups: Set up rules in ServiceNow for dynamic grouping of discovered services, linking them automatically to the parent application service.

This approach creates a hierarchical layout without manual effort for each service.
