Hello,
Our client has recently acquired one small entity.
Client is telling that network connectivity will be established with that small entity this month-end and wants to see the ITOM discovery plan.
We are not sure what should we do to plan for CMDB discovery.
Note: Client has already the CMDB setup.
Do we need to do anything specific to this new merger or exisiting set up will take care once the network connectivity is established?
Kindly advise.

Hi, I would request you to understand the As-Is architecture and how CMDB is constructed. Specifically, what are the data sources are available in existing environment and match with ServiceNow SG connectors. If exist, you can close the integration using that (Ex - SCCM, Intune etc.,) Parallely, do the analysis with ServiceNow Discovery suits for existing environment. There is no option from Discovery, SG connectors then you can see option called integrations.
Customer follows application discovery then use ServiceMapping.
Suresh.

- Understand their current cmdb - Do they use servicenow? Do they have discovery? Do they even have a cmdb?
- Since network connectivity is being established soon, i would suggest getting with their infra teams to get ready for discovery by deploying credentials etc. , while you sort the networking and permission issues with others to get access to be able to discover.
- Once you have network access its discovery 101 where you discover/validate/re-discover
- Do keep in mind point 1 - if they have existing data sources other than servicenow discovery, analysis is needed as to what should be the primary data source.
