Step 1: Identify Goals and Use Cases
Step 2: Determine Data Sources
Step 4: Connect Data Sources and Integrations
Step 5: Configure Key Components
Configure Key Components
This list outlines and describes each component that must be configured on the Armis platform:
- Dashboards—The main Dashboards page shows high-level information about currently-discovered networks and devices, and unhandled alerts. You can also create, share, and use multiple dashboards. Each dashboard can contain specific or dedicated information, which you can view and manage at your discretion and convenience and align to your job function and objectives. See the Viewing and Managing Dashboards section of the Armis Platform User Guide for more information.
- Policies—Policies are used to generate alerts or protection countermeasures when conditions on the risk or operational use cases match. Through Armis Value Packs, the Armis platform comes with pre-defined policies based on your input criteria. You also have the option of manually implementing your own policies. See the Policies section of the Armis Platform User Guide for more information.
- Boundaries—Boundaries are used to help organize devices according to the network connections they make. Each boundary consists of a collection of network definitions—such as SSIDs (wireless network name) or IP addresses—that represent a logical segmentation. You can view and add new boundaries from the Boundaries page. See the Boundaries section of the Armis Platform User Guide for more information.
- Sites—Sites are the physical location of the assets in your environment. For more information on how to view and set up Sites in the Armis platform, see the Sites section of the Armis Platform User Guide. You can use Sites to:
- Manage assets according to sites. For example, you can distribute responsibilities based on geolocation. You can use Armis dashboards, reports, and policies to help you manage your assets using the geolocation information.
- Implement geolocation-based access control to limit access according to the principle of least privilege (PoLP).
- Retrieve a physical device.
- Users—Create and manage user accounts such as adding and removing users, resetting passwords, and access controls to sites and boundaries. For more information on creating and managing user accounts, see the Users section of the Armis Platform User Guide.
- Roles and Permissions—View and manage the roles that exist in the system:
- Predefined roles created and maintained by Armis
- New custom-defined roles
- Additionally, you can add and remove permissions from existing roles and create new roles with unlimited permutations. For more information, see the Roles and Permissions section of the Armis Platform User Guide.
Configure Optional Components
This list outlines the optional components that you may wish to configure on the Armis platform:
- Business Impact Ratings—Specify assets that are most important for your organization to protect, and which pose the highest risk if compromised. These settings help to generate the rating. For more information, see the Business Impact section of the Armis Platform User Guide.
- Tags—Tagging is a way of logically identifying and organizing devices in Armis. Tags can be used in queries, in reports, and in policies to help you filter devices of a specific type. Tags can be set or unset (also known as “untagging”) automatically from Armis, through policies or by manual means.
