If ServiceNow no longer monitors this Instance Help forum, should this forum be decommissioned?

Hi @Kamini Kansal

although I have subscribed to many forums I missed this announcement and I think many users will feel the same way. At least putting a hint in the forum description would be fair, right?

A pinned-post would be nice.

Though I think the message is clear. The number of posts in the Instance Help community has decreased immensely over the past week.

Addionally the Service Now Instance Emails regarding PDIs contains a link to this forum. This should be replaced then with the right target.

Hi @Kamini Kansal ,

My PDI has been offline for more than a week. I already summited a feedback as per your instruction, but not response I got...

I'm really in trouble since I cannot deploy the update sets in there into my production instance, so could you fix it immediately?

Also, looks like there are a lot more users facing same issue. Is there an estimated recovery time?

It appears to not be monitored there either.

I've submitted twice now the past two days and my instance is still under unscheduled maintenance.

I'd release it and get a new one, but I'd lose all my personal dev work so that is not an option.

Is there another way to get this issue resolved.

My instance is also down and stuck in a restore.  I have now got the email stating that my restore backup will be deleted within the week.  And I don't seem to be able to get any support or response from ServiceNow.

Its been in a "Restoring" state for more than 3 days.

Looks like they are not monitoring the Instance Help forum, neither the feedback or this article.

Would be simple enough to ask everyone: "hey, stop using PDIs" instead of making us waste time.

Or give a better support!

My PDI dev80866 has been offline for more than a week and I cannot restore it either

Bob Mullineaux

I understand the PDIs are free, but they do no good at all unless one can access it and get it restored if need be.   My instance was improperly claimed,  attempts to restore constantly failed, I posted a help request in the Give Feedback Link and requested a response which I never received, someone may have taken action because I can now get to the instance but cannot get logged in as it is not recognizing my logins and the link to reset the admin password just redirects to the developer site, so I am once again stuck.  Yesterday I posted another request in Give Feedback to help with the password issue and requested a response which I have not received and still the problem persists.

To give some additional feedback to the Developer Program folks...."support for PDIs is really, really, terrible"!

My PDI is also unavailable: dev110608. I used option with the feedback.

I got this message from 2 days : The instance is offline. Please check again in a few minutes.

For me, the feedback worked, however, after 3 days, but at least I got my PDI restored few hours before the deadline.

Looks like they are short staffed, but they respond.

Bob Mullineaux

I had the same problem starting around 3/7/22 which I posted in the get feedback as people are suggesting is the new process.   I received absolutely no response from anyone on a status or what was being done to resolve the issue.   I tried multiple times to restore.  Monday I could get to the login screen, but could not get logged in and the reset admin password did nothing.  It appeared that the instance now belonged to someone else because the instance banner had been modified and contained someone's name.   Yesterday 3/22, I tried again to restore and was successful in doing so.  I have my previous PDI back online with a new instance name and number assigned.

I do not understand the lack of support with PDIs.  I understand they are free, but useless unless they work.

Bob Mullineaux

Well..sadly my newly restored PDI is now malfunctioning for the last few days...

I am getting as far as the redirect to login, but no further...I do not believe it is my browser and came in via the Developer Portal

https://dev59224.service-now.com/login_redirect.do?sysparm_stack=no

Yesterday, when my PDI was working, I finally received a message from someone, who stated "We see that you have successfully restored your PDI."...so I guess someone is out there.  But alas, now starting over again with a comment in Give Feedback which I have not received a response to.  (see attached)

I doubt posting here will help, but I too am in the situation where my PDI has been offline for over 24 hours.  As this is a primary sandbox and demo environment, not having it available is impacting our business.

I have posted through Give Feedback twice today, with no reply and no notification that this feedback has even been received.

Very poor support and comms from ServiceNow.

Lately using a PDI is a real challenge for me, I have 2 PDIs (dev99130 and dev93310) and they're offline for weeks, I posted multiple 'Give Feedback' requests with no result.

Really poor support around PDIs availability issues.

Well I did finally get a reply on Monday that there was a hardware issue and that I would be notified when resolved.   Its now over 10 days since I first reported this, so I have to assume its not coming back up and i'm going to have release and request a new instance and then rebuild the whole thing.

Quite frankly, pretty shocked by how poor the communications have been around this.  Clearly there has been a hardware failure that may not be recoverable.  Open,  honest and regular communication with the dev community on this should be a given, even if its to say i'm not getting the instance back, so we can plan and manage the impact on our organisations.

Anyway once bitten twice shy and all that!  Good luck all.

My PDI has been expired for less than 12 hours, and still did not create a backup. Despite what this post says, all emails and info I have received lead me to this forum. Also, the "Give Feedback" button does not exist on the developer page.

Please find someone who can fix this major issue, as it definitely appears that my incident is not isolated.

Hi,

Seems like ServiceNow is having some problems with PDIs. They've also disabled Feedback.  There used to be a below icon at the bottom right hand corner of the developer home page but I can no longer can find it.

find_real_file.png

My instance was not available for about 2 weeks. Below is my experience. Long story short, I ended up releasing my instance and getting a new one. My reply from ServiceNow came 2 weeks later so the backup no longer existed. If the instance isn't coming back up after few days, it may be better to release it and try to get it back using the backup. It seems like some user were able to get their instance back using the backup.

Long story

When I logged out from the developer's site and tried to log back in, I saw the following message.

Need assistance?

Get instant help or open support ticket!

However, when I clicked on the "ServiceNow Developer Program" link, following shows up. Seems the feedback is gone.

find_real_file.png

The irony of the situation is that the same "Need assistance?" statement is also written on the Sign up for a ServiceNow ID page.

https://signon.service-now.com/x_snc_sso_auth.do#/sign-up

Tried the "Get instant help or open support ticket!" link. It just tells me to send a feedback when there's no more feedback.

Any issues related to the Personal Developer Instance (PDI) issued by ServiceNow Developer Program like devXXXXX.service-now.com should be reported as feedback on ServiceNow Developer Site.

FYI, there's actually a Catch22 situation here too. The "Getting Instance Assistance" page mentions to post to the Instance Help Forum.

To get assistance with a PDI, use the Instance Help Forum on the ServiceNow Community. Be sure to include a detailed description of your issue.

https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/guides/sandiego/developer-program/pdi-guide/getting-instan...

While the Featured Article at the top of the Instance Help Forum refers to a now non-existing Feedback.

The Developer Program no longer monitors the community for Personal Developer Instance (PDI)-related issues. To get PDI support, open the Developer Site < https://developer.servicenow.com > and click the Give Feedback button.

https://community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_article&sys_id=ed6a8ede1bf3b4101e579979b04bc...

After almost 2 weeks, I've finally got a response from my feedbacks. It may be because they expected many feedback about this response that they decided to disable it.

Your Personal Developer Instance (PDI) is offline, and we are unable to recover it. You can request a new PDI. If you have a backup of your current instance, you will have the option to apply the backup to the new PDI during your request. Learn more about requesting a new instance and restoring an instance in the Obtaining a PDI section of the Personal Developer Instance (PDI) Guide.

Seems like ServiceNow is having some major problems with some PDIs. (sigh)

After waiting almost 2 weeks, I released my instance and got a new one. A new instance was made available immediately.

Bob Blum

I am fortunately not having problems with my PDI at the moment, but I was trying to ask a question regarding it.  I discovered the Instance Help Forum, and the posting that says it is no longer being monitored.  Yet I still find references to go there with questions and issues.

ServiceNow Developers

Personal Developer Instance (PDI) Guide

Getting Instance Assistance

"To get assistance with a PDI, use the Instance Help Forum on the ServiceNow Community. Be sure to include a detailed description of your issue."

Since that does not work, to say "The Developer Program no longer monitors the community for Personal Developer Instance (PDI)-related issues. To get PDI support, open the Developer Site < https://developer.servicenow.com > and click the Give Feedback button." does no good if I go to the site and there is no Give Feedback button available.

We are willing to use whatever option is available, but it's frustrating not being able to discover what that option could be.
