The ServiceNow Zurich release introduces a powerful enhancement for optimizing Service Portal load times.
With the new configuration options available in the Page Designer, you can now control when specific widgets load on a page. This allows for smarter resource management and faster page rendering.
To improve your Service Portal page performance, follow these steps to configure widget loading behavior effectively.
- Open the page in page designer

How can this be disabled in its entirety? The instance options do not help when unchecking, as the portal homepage loads, it shows widget for a split second, and then does not load the widget, rendering homepages blank.

In ServiceNow, there’s no supported way to disable deferred widget loading globally. The Zurich change is widget-level, so instance options won’t override it.
To fix blank homepages, open each affected page in Page Designer, select the widgets, turn off “Defer loading”, save, and clear the portal cache. The Instance settings alone won’t undo widget-level defer settings from memory. Hope this helps!

@sudharsana r1 - This is a simple but impactful improvement in the ServiceNow Zurich release. Being able to defer widget loading in Page Designer gives teams an easy, practical way to speed up Service Portal pages without redesigning them. Small configuration change, big performance win.
