This simulator, part of the CMDB Fundamentals course on Now Learning, will assess your skills in working with CI Class Manager, Identification and Reconciliation Rules, reclassification rules, CMDB 360/Multisource CMDB, and Data Refresh Rules.

Please use this community article to post questions or issues you find with this simulator before opening a case record. With time this post should provide answers to common questions and inputs.

This micro-certification simulator is designed as an adaptive tool to enhance testing and learning through its interactive tasks.

Adaptive simulators operate on three levels:

1. Hardest (Expert Level): Top-level instructions are presented first.
2. Medium (Proficient Level): Mid-level instructions are provided if needed.
3. Beginner Level: Basic instructions are offered at the third and lowest level.

Hi - I see so many issues and ppl getting stuck in Task-02. Can you guys take a look and fix the problem. I am also in same boat -- I followed instruction and it keep stating I missed something....it's day 6 (I am stuck)

Hi @mishraanna  just checking if you are using one of the new Vancouver simulators, if so these are what we call "Adaptive Simulators" so if you can't complete the task successfully as stated, you have the ability to move down a level where additional information is provided, and if you move down to the lowest level, you are provided with the video solution. In your case, if you are having issues, please move down to the beginner level where a video solution is provided. Thanks.

EDIT:
- Validation stays broken for Task 03 / task 3 / task3
- Validation seemingly stays broken for all tasks

Stuck on Task 02 / task 2 / task2

- I did set up everything as instructed (see screenshots)

- I even used the Proficient Level and Beginner Level hints to double check that I did not miss anything

- I terminated the first instance, waited forever for a second instance to come up, and repeated every step

What is going on here? Is the Learning Module, the Simulator or the Validation broken?

FollowUp: Validation was broken for me for the whole module and had to manually fixed by Marc G. from ServiceNow Support - Task by Task...

According to him this was the first time he has seen such a problem, so hopefully you all will not run into the same trouble 🤔

@felixmiske sorry to hear that you had issues, I just looked and it shows you completed the Configure the CMDB simulator 100%. Did you work through some issues or are you having issues with something else? I also verified that several other folks have completed the newly released Washington Configure the CMDB Simulator. @glenn_pinto I am also stuck with Task 02 because there is no Running Process Command column available.  I also tried to add them with a name of running_process_command for proceeding exercise Task 03 but no luck.  Please investigate and update the validation script on Task 02.

The link provided in step 2 doesn't work for me, it opens in a new tab as a blank screen:

step 2 is pointing to a non existent sys id in the attachment table. Please fix this or provide the attachment in a different way.

It just worked for me, I was now able to download it automatically as a .txt file. Previously when clicking the link it would just open a blank browser tab. Thanks!

On Task 08, the images to visually validate my results are not showing.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

@FranciscoH Which release of the simulator are you working on? Washington or Xanadu? I did check this and don't see any issues from my side. Maybe try a different browser and see if you get the same result or refresh the browser? Thanks.

Sadly for me all script links and a few pictures are not working.

The links just open an blank page and for some pictures only a placeholder is shown.

We have reviewed the script issue and it appears that some references were lost with the change from Washington to Xanadu. This should be working now. Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues and sorry for the problems.

On Task 08: Verify Multisource CMDB Data, the images shown in the task description are broken.

And as for the Task 02, I've seen a lot of other people having trouble validating the Task, I had to terminate the Lab instance, request a new one, redo the task and then I was able to validate the Task 02 successfully.

My Question: Task 13: Duplicate Mongoose Web Server CI Entries Despite Identification Rule?

I have an Identification Rule for the Mongoose Web Server based on:

Running Process Command

However, when I run the below script to create/update CIs, it creates a new Mongoose Web Server entry instead of updating the existing one:

The latest simulators are built as adaptive simulators that provide additional guidance if you are having issues. Please review the task called "Before you start: Adaptive Simulator Overview" which has a video on how these work. Every task has an optional video showcasing the solution which should hopefully assist you to get through the task. Hope this helps. Thanks.
