Asset assigned_to not syncing from cmdb_ci_computer to alm_asset

Hi Everyone,

I’m troubleshooting an issue where a laptop has the correct Assigned to value in cmdb_ci_computer, but the corresponding record in alm_asset has Assigned to = empty and State = In Stock.

The asset can be found in both tables using the same serial number, but the assignment information is inconsistent.

Could someone please advise which Business Rules, Asset-CI synchronization logic, data mappings, or configurations I should check to determine why assigned_to is not being synchronized to alm_asset?

I’m looking for a permanent fix that will address this for all affected users rather than manually updating individual asset records.

Thanks!

Hi @udaykumarko

1. Check the active BR:

  • Clear Assigned To on update
  •   Reset Assigned To
  • Update Asset fields on change (on the cmdb_ci table)
  • Update CI fields on change (on the alm_asset table)

2. Check AssetAndCISynchronizer Script Include
3. check field mapping : Navigate to Asset > Administration > Asset-CI Field Mapping.

Hey @udaykumarko

I would first check the Asset-CI synchronization Business Rules and field mappings.

A few things worth checking:

  1. Verify the OOB Business Rules on cmdb_ci and alm_asset responsible for syncing CI and Asset fields.
  2. Check whether assigned_to is included in the Asset-CI Field Mapping and whether the mapping is active.
  3. Verify that both records are correctly linked through the asset and ci reference fields.
  4. Check the Clear Assigned To on update Business Rule. It may clear the assignment when the asset is in In Stock, On Order, or In Transit.
  5. Review any custom Business Rules, Transform Maps, or integrations that might be overwriting the values.
