Associated CIs greyed out for Dynamic CI Groups after upgrading from Xanadu to Zurich

Hi Community,

After upgrading our instance from Xanadu to Zurich, we noticed an issue where the “Associated CIs” section for Dynamic CI Groups becomes greyed out (read‑only/disabled) and no associated members are displayed.

What we observed

  1. Immediately after the Zurich upgrade, the “Associated CIs” section in the Dependency View for Dynamic CI Groups became completely greyed out, and we could no longer view the associated CIs.
  2. We tried working around the issue by manually creating CI relationships.
  3. However, even after adding manual relationships, the Associated CIs section remains greyed out, and the associated CIs still do not appear.
  4. In contrast, when the service-to-CI relationships are created or maintained through Service Mapping / Top‑Down Discovery, the Associated CIs section works normally and is NOT greyed out.

Questions

  1. Is this behavior expected in Zurich for Dynamic CI Groups, especially when relationships are created manually?
  2. Did Zurich introduce changes to how Dynamic CI Group membership is resolved, or how Associated CIs is populated/displayed?
  3. How does the backend mechanism for “Associated CIs” work for Dynamic CI Groups?
    • Does it rely on a specific association table (e.g., svc_ci_assoc) rather than directly using cmdb_rel_ci relationships?
    • Is there a scheduled job or background process required to materialize/refresh membership for query‑based groups?
  4. Why would Service Mapping / Discovery‑generated application services show Associated CIs correctly, while Dynamic CI Groups do not?
  5. Are there any known issues, defects, or KB articles for Zurich where Associated CIs becomes greyed out specifically for Dynamic CI Groups?

Any guidance, troubleshooting suggestions, or pointers to changes introduced in Zurich would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
