Hi Team, 
I am few quires regarding this CIS - Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM) (CIS-DF (CMDB and CSDM) course is, I have done the course thoroughly and understand the topics, but not feel confident to appear in exam, as i never worked on ITOM project. If not cleared in one attempt, then will i get another free attempt to appear in exam ?. and what about the other certifications validation. they will expire at the end of 2026 ?

Hi @ajay shrivas 

No, only the first attempt is free, provided by SN, until June 2026. You/we need to clear the exam by December 2026 at the latest; otherwise, the dependent mainline exam will expire. 2nd attempt, you need to pay from your own pocket.

it is more related to the CSDM/CMDB side. Please revise the course and go for the exam.

yes, it is as @Dr Atul G- LNG told, only the 1st attempt is free and it must be also taken before H1 2026... any other attempt will be paid. 

 

Another important aspect of this exam is that there are periods between each of the attempt. So the sooner you try the better actually.

 

🚨VERY IMPORTANT – ACTION REQUIRED 🚨

If you are impacted by this change, you Really Need to complete your first attempt of the CIS - Data Foundations (CMDB& CSDM ) exam by the end of Q1 (March 31). (This exam has 75 questions you need to complete within 90 mins).

Failure to act now could have serious consequences:

  • Now → March 31 (Q1 Deadline)
    Complete your exam by this date.
  • Fail Attempt 1 → +3 Days
    🔄Retake allowed after 3 days.
  • Fail Attempt 2 → +30 Days
    ⚠️Now in May.
  • Fail Attempt 3 → +6 Months
    Next retake in November–December.
  • Fail Attempt 4 → Beyond Dec 31, 2026
    Lose ALL affected certifications.

If you have not passed by December 31, 2026, you will LOSE ALL OTHER CERTIFICATIONS affected by this change:

 Do not delay. Schedule and complete your exam NOW to avoid cascading delays and major certification loss.

 

 

And last but not least, if you plan to register for any of the 7 certs above, you must pass the CIS DF first and then you can go with any of the 7...
