Clarification on VUL Closure Logic When VITs Are Closed

Hi Community,

I have a question regarding the Vulnerability Response workflow in ServiceNow:

  • All Vulnerability Items (VITs) under a remediation task are closed, but the associated Vulnerability Group (VUL) remains in an Open state.
How does the VUL transition to the Closed state in this scenario?

  • If a user clicks the Resolve UI action, the VUL moves to the Resolved state.
What is the logic or process that moves it from Resolved to Closed?

  • There is a Close UI action available, but it is inactive and the user does not want to use it.
Do we have any OOB script logic, business rules, or background jobs that handle this transition automatically?

Any insights on the OOB behavior or configuration for this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
