CMDB_CATEGORIES

Hello team,

I have a requirement, which states that for class "windows server" the (category should be server) and (subcategory is windows) which i have configured using cmdb_categories table and added the relation there.

Now the other requirement is that for same class "Windows server" ,

Category - Server

Subcategory - Server, Appliance

I tried to configure it by going to dictionary of subcategory and there selected the option as "Choice with none" and added choices Server and Appliance and added the dependent value for the same...If this was the case then why to use cmdb_categories table and why not directly use dependent values and achieve this?

Is this the correct approach ? If not please guide me with the correct approach?
