CMDB Certification Tasks

When creating certifications a task is assigned to an assignment group. It also gets assigned to an individual person. However it gets assigned to "DataManager Job Runner". When this happens the people within the assignment group can't view the tasks. Do tasks have to be assigned to individual people? Why are the tasks getting assigned to "DataManager Job Runner"?CMDB Task.png

Hey @adamtoth,

If this is the policy-based CMDB Data Manager certification (not the legacy Data Certification plugin), since your screenshot shows a Policy type of Certification on cmdb_data_management_task. DataManager Job Runner is the out-of-box system account the Data Manager scheduled job actually runs as. It lands in Assigned to when the policy's task assignment configuration doesn't resolve to a real person, for example the policy is set to assign by group only and there's no Owned by or Managed by value to fall back on. A certification task can only ever be assigned to one user at a time, so it does not need to be an individual, but your group members still need the right role to see and work group-owned tasks. Worth checking:

  • Role: confirm the assignment group members have sn_cmdb_data_manager.user or sn_cmdb_data_manager.operator, without it the task won't show up for them even with the assignment group set correctly
  • Policy config: open the Windows Server Manual Entry Data Certification policy and check what the Task Assignment section actually resolves to for these CIs
  • Pickup behavior: in CMDB Workspace, the first group member to open the task and click Review records to certify reassigns it to themselves, replacing the job runner
