We have CIs that say they are updated by "System" and some say "midserver".
What is the difference between System and midserver?
Please let me know. Thx, Juli

Hi @Juli C
the terms "System" and "MID Server" refer to different sources or methods for updating Configuration Items (CIs):
System: This indicates that the updates to the CI were made directly by ServiceNow's internal processes or scripts. For example, this could include system-generated updates or changes made through the ServiceNow interface by users with administrative rights.
MID Server: This refers to updates made by the MID Server, which is an agent that runs on your network and facilitates communication between your ServiceNow instance and external systems. MID Servers are commonly used for:
- Discovery: To find and record details about devices in your network.
- Integration: To interact with other systems or tools within your IT environment.
When a CI is updated by the MID Server, it generally means that the update originated from an external system or network device discovered or monitored by the MID Server.
Key Differences:
- Source of Update: "System" indicates an internal ServiceNow process, while "MID Server" indicates an external source interacting with your ServiceNow instance.
