We've a requirement to get non-cmdb tables data certified. As Data Certification application is going to be deprecated, do we need to use CMDB workspace Data manager policy to create certification tasks for non-CMDB tables?
If CMDB data manager is the only way, means user would need CMDB workspace access to work on certification tasks?
It would be confusing for end users to go to CMDB workspace to work on certification tasks for tables which has nothing to do with CMDB (Example - Groups or Users table). And sn_cmdb_ws contains more roles specific to CMDB.
Also is it possible to dot walk on Assignment field? For example - if i want to dot walk to user's manager based on user field, can we do in new certification? It was possible in legacy data certifications.
@Tony Branton - Could you please help us here.
Regards,
Shreya

The new version of Data Certification supports certifying data in non-CMDB tables. You need to use Data Manager to create a certification policy, which has similar configuration options to the legacy version's combination of certification schedules and filters.
Data Manager creates tasks that are accessed through the My Work section of CMDB Workspace. Users need at least the sn_cmdb_user role to access CMDB Workspace, and if users need to update CI records they need the sn_cmdb_editor role. Data Certification is not available as a standalone application since:
- It's based on Data Manager (which can only be accessed via CMDB Workspace)
- Making it standalone would result in another workspace being added to those available today, which isn't desirable.
Data Certification tasks may become available in other workspaces that offer certification of their specific data types, however general data certification and managing certification policies will continue to be performed from CMDB Workspace.
It's possible to dot-walk for reference fields selected for Display or Certification fields. It's not possible to dot-walk to a field when configuring task assignment in a policy.

Is there any improvement planned to enable dot-walking to field for task assignment in future versions? dot-walking used to work in legacy data certifications.
We need to create certification tasks for group managers to certify if group members of the group are valid or not. We wanted to dot-walk to group manager based on Group field in group members table (sys_user_grmember). Also if user is manager of multiple groups then we want to create single task for that manager. How can we achieve this?

As stated in my previous reply, dot-walking for task assignment is not supported in Data Manager certification policies today. While we plan to add support for this soon, we haven't pinned down a timeframe. You can continue to use the legacy Data Certification application for this particular certification scenario.
Regarding the scenario where a user is a manager of multiple groups, Data Manager will create a single task for the user and associate the related records with the task. Record-to-task grouping and assignment is available for all Data Manager policy types.

Hi @Tony Branton ,
Legacy data certification has some open defects which ServiceNow will not fix as application has been deprecated so we can't use legacy data certification.
Is there any other way we can achieve this?
