Hello Folks
While discovering a Windows Server, the CI is getting populated under "cmdb_ci_computer" instead of "cmdb_ci_win_server".
Based on my understanding, this could be due to incomplete OS identification, and we need to validate the Discovery Patterns rather than classifiers. Could someone please confirm if this is correct and advise what exactly needs to be checked in the Patterns, along with the navigation?
Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Thanks!

Hi Satish,
It is due to the Classifications defined in the Windows Classifications(discovery_classy_windows) table and we dont need to change the discovery patterns. If the operating systems contains '2022', '2016' or '2008' it will discover it as a windows server if the classification probe doesn't result operating system version number then it will go default as computer. Maybe for those devices you can check whether windows desktop os installed instead of windows server os. Also you can check what is the windows Classification probe payload results.
Regards,
Vivek
