Hi everyone,
I’m working on improving CMDB data quality in our instance and could use some guidance.

ahoy @gunasair79,
it might be a bit tricky to build CMDB in a PDI, as these records are usually imported or integrated with third party tools (Intune, SAP, LeanIX, Lansweeper, ...).
So it will strongly depend on the nature of how the CMDB is governed and maintained, based on that you can design and plan your strategy.
I don't think it's a good use case for a PDI, that should be just a playground rather than a place to have real customer/business data..
I would recommend you to enrol to the Data foundation path, you will have there leanring resources, links to documentation and it will let you learn the leading practies as well:

Hi @gunasair79
CMDB dependencies should be considered, following the 3C principles. To properly assess and implement the changes, we need access to representative data. A PDI may not provide sufficient data to demonstrate the actual changes and their impact.
I would suggest selecting three representative CIs, making the changes one at a time based on CMDB best practices, and validating the results for each. Once the approach is proven, we can repeat the exercise for the other required CI classes.
This would be a good, practical way to validate the changes and move forward.
