Redoing CMDB on a clean slate

Good afternoon all 🙂

 

We have an existing CMDB but it hasn't been maintained. We now want to 'get rid of all the old CMDB' and start on a clean slate. I am looking for best practice or maybe a document of what is the best way forward? Any good advice please.

 

We are on the Yokohama release. We have 2 million + CI's but most of it only contains a name, no additional information populated so it is kind of useless.
