We have been using ServiceNow and CMDB for over a decade, and as we are maturing relationship models through the usual suspects of tagging and service mapping, the value of tracking relationships through network gear feels like a bridge too far. That is, isn't everything related to the network, and therefore isn't everything going to touch everything?
(Insert Kevin Bacon reference here).
Is there any advice out there by those that have done it, and can throttle what seems like a ton of information coming back. Would you rate this as essential or a slippery slope? Any advice is appreciated.

Hi @Keith Woods ,
ServiceNow Discovery OOB capturing the relationship with Load Balancer to Devices and Network OOB without an issue.
You must ensure discovery is running on Time and LB status is Installed and Operational,
Then while you are putting entry point for Service Mapping , LB automatically picked up based on information and relationship stored in LB and Associated Web Server as well.
If i say, No need to do manual mapping as such , that will the good statement otherwise, you data and mapping will be messed up.
