Hi everyone,
Looking for wisdom in regards an oddity on our CMDB or at least is causing issues. We've found a lot of VM Instance records that are being discovered and are Virtualized by ESX, however there are no Server CI record related. I reviewed the content for this article It describes how relationships between Server and VM works it describes that for ESX relationship is Virtualizes::Virtualized by for the hosted VMs but at the same time this VM needs to have a initiates::Initiated by to the Server record by the settings for the is Virtual flag from Server CI and Guest Reconcilied flag from the VM CI, I have restricted rights on Class manager and couldn't find the last flag from VM class, I used my PDI to look for the flag, and at least from what I saw there is no such flag (current version of our instance is Yokohama, as well my PDI).
At this point I need to know if Discovery is not able to pull out the Server CI due lack of settings from the VM Instance record, or If in this scenario where a VM is virtualized by ESX it won't have a pairing CI that matches the record.
I've used quick discovery for the IPs reporting VMs for have them discovered and likely it fails to perform Horizontal Discovery (wrong credentials) but I'm quite unsure if this is caused by an underlying issue since VMs are being retrieved. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi @haruesgap ,
I think you are seeing the expected behavior. To create server vm relationships, we need to have Horizontal discovery configured for the vm ips.
Mark it helpful if this helps you to understand. Accept solution if this give you the answer you're looking for
