Modeling some input towards the CMDB related to VMware VMs, and referencing the discovery documentation for Vmware vCenter in the spirit of "what would discovery do", I found a challenge in relation to vDisks. I do not have access to discovery so cannot check myself.
On this page: Data collected for VMware vCenter Server
It says:
"Storage Volumes
The virtual disks for this virtual machine. This data is saved in the Storage Volume [cmdb_ci_storage_volume] table with the value type=v Disk."
There are multiple columns containing "type, but none only called "type". And none of them contains a choice for "v Disk". It also says "value "type=vDisk" so could reference to a string field where you're supposed to enter the "type=" prefix as well, but it doesn't say which column.. 😑
Can someone clear up what discovery would do here?
