What is a CMDB "industry standard"?

Our CMDB is not brand new. We use Discovery, Service Mapping, and other common integrations to import and update CIs. Our governance is in it's infancy, however, and I'm looking for a way to benchmark our CMDB against other IT companies of similar size. What actually constitutes an "industry standard" in terms of CMDB? Is it a measurement of the steps taken to establish the CMDB or a measurement of how it is performing? I am mindful that there are metrics, dashboards, and reports that track our health and the relative impact on other ITSM processes like Change and Incident. But how do we compare where we are to other companies or against some kind of industry standard?
