Here's an alternative to the example from K19 for Servicenow ITSM CSDM. The key differences are:
- Treating Servicenow as a single "Business Application".
- Representing Midserver as only an "Application"
I'd love to hear feedback on drawbacks of this approach, or reasons that it deviates from CSDM principles. My rationale for changing is simplifying APM and the management of Business Applications.

Can I inquire - what tools have you found to be most effective in modeling these depictions? Visio, preferred EA tools?

Steve,
I used an EA tool (iServer), but it leverages Visio. Visio could work by itself.

Hi Steve,
I simply must mention our tool that is created as a ServiceNow application and is available from the ServiceNow Store. It's called Data Content Manager and one can use that do create graphical data model diagrams (using actual tables and relationships within your instance) and also to manage and audit data against those models. So, much more than just a modelling tool.

Hi Steve - I am a big fan of using a free site called Draw.io for making flow diagrams/data models such as these. Visio for me is a little clunky, but it's really totally up to your personal preference.
