Is there a recommendation that Business Application should not be used/ associated for ITSM objects? For example, business application reference is included on the Incident / Problem forms?

I think the fact that you have 'Business Application' living on the 'Task' table when you install APM and therefore then available on e.g. incident, should not be confused with the explicit guidance that it's not meant to be used for operational processes but for design and planning activities...
