Hi @24a31a4648

What question are you trying to ask? How CSDM works?

Simple answer: read the CSDM 5 white paper here: https://www.servicenow.com/community/common-service-data-model/csdm-5-finally-get-the-csdm-5-white-p...

I hope this helps!

Ahoy @24a31a4648,

ServiceNow is built mostly using javascript, some little jelly, for portals there are html and css, but no python at all

Hi @24a31a4648

Common day-to-day services—such as requesting a new laptop, resetting a password, or ordering software—are managed in ServiceNow through the Service Catalog. These user requests are organized into specific services and service offerings, making it easier for users to find and request what they need.

How Common Services Work in Servicenow

Employees regularly interact with standard services such as Remote VPN Access or End-User Device Management. Behind the scenes, the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) provides a standardized framework that connects the services users request with the underlying business and technical infrastructure.

The key CSDM components include:

  • Business Capabilities: High-level organizational functions or goals, such as Employee Onboarding.
  • Business Applications: Software applications that support business operations, such as Workday or Microsoft Office 365.
  • Service Offerings: Specific, consumable options or tiers of a service that users can request, such as Laptop Repair, Hardware Replacement, or Standard Laptop Provisioning.

This structured approach helps organizations maintain consistency, improve service visibility, and ensure that user requests are accurately mapped to the supporting business and IT services.

For better understanding about the CSDM , please find the attached CSDM 5.0 document.
