Understand the relationships between Application Service, Model ID, and Application

Can you please help me understand the relationships between Application Service, Model ID, and Application? I am not sure how these work together. I am also questioning if we need to setup Application Models when we create application services.

I just found these 2 articles, which I think answers my question.

I believe that the Application Service needs to be tied to the Software Model.

However, if you pull the ModelID field onto the Application Service form, it is referencing the Discovered Model, and not the Product Model. So, I am really not sure... The discovered model makes a lot more sense to me, which would then link to the Software Model via Software Asset Management.

If I have this wrong, please correct me!
