In the CSDM 5 whitepaper, I noticed that within the Design & Planning domain the previously referenced Application Owner role (as seen in CSDM v4) no longer appears on CSDM v5 Whitepaper - figure 4. CSDM 5 conceptual model. Instead, the role Digital Portfolio Owner is used in that area.
I searched the CSDM 5 whitepaper for the term Application Owner and I could only find one very brief reference on page 31. Is Application Owner now considered an outdated or informal taxonomy?

"CSDM 5 builds on the previous CSDM frameworks from ServiceNow with the overall aim to have a common data model for all pockets of the enterprise. Ranging from IT Operations to Service Delivery and end-users/consumer perspective. One of the most prominent shifts is moving from the narrow view of only service delivery to a more holistic digital product management approach.
Business Applications will change label to "Digital Products", and the design domain will experience updates to make the term "Business Applications" less confusing and more flexible. Additionally, new Digital Product Portfolio's will be introduced together with updated personas and roles. Only labels will change and no tables."
So to summarize,
- CSDM v4 (Application Owner): Often implied a technical owner of a specific piece of software (Business Application).
- CSDM 5 (Digital Portfolio Owner): Reflects a holistic, "product-centric" approach. This role manages a portfolio that includes Business Applications, Services, and Technical Components as unified "Digital Products"
