Associate Technical Project Manager Track

SNapiCity
Tera Expert

I have just begun the Associate Technical Project Manager track.  I’m curious to hear from those who recently completed these ServiceNow PM tracks about the new opportunities that they were able to move into.

Please share your experiences and insights on these PM tracks, and/or your recommendations for the ServiceNow training that’s emerging for new opportunities into 2026.

Thanks

Hi @SNapiCity

I've completed all three TPM paths (associate, practitioner and professional).

I think the content is great and if you're interested in a PM role, it's very valuable as a learning resource.

But I'll be brutally honest: 99% of employees, including 95% of hiring managers at ServiceNow Partner orgs don't even know these learning paths exist, let alone give a **** that you've completed them. All they're interested in is the mainline certs.

I have NEVER seen a job ad that even mentioned the learning paths, let alone demanded applicants had completed them. I don't know why, because they're full of great content that's highly relevant. But it is what it is.

So, if you're focused on moving into a PM role, I recommend you complete the paths, or at least cherry-pick content you find helpful, because it will help you talk the talk at an interview, and show you understand relevant aspects of the platform.

But, if you say to the interviewer, "I've ideally suited for this position because I've completed all three learning paths in the TPM career journey," I would be astonished if you got any response other than a blank stare.

Thank you Simon,

I am on the way to completing my PMP and already Agile certified as CSM and CSPO with years of such experience in ITSM in corporate IT for Telecom (BMC/Remedy apps).  I have also up-skilled as an Azure AI Engineer.  However, I don’t have the right ServiceNow edge to be selected for any new roles.  What is the best ServiceNow path to leap-frog into roles and provide the most needed solutions coming into 2026.

Your profile is impressive

Thanks

Phillip

Ideally you want to get the CSA and the CIS-ITSM. Given your background in ITSM, I'm sure you'll have no problem with the CIS study, and it will wrap an ideal ServiceNow perspective around your existing knowledge.

Also, as previously mentioned, I would cherry-pick some of  the courses in the TPM path - the main goal being to familiarize yourself with PM from a ServiceNow perspective.

If you want to leverage your telco experience, ServiceNow is increasingly pushing its Telecom Service Provider offering, and there are courses you can take around that.
