CIS- Data Foundations (CMDB & CSDM) exam 2026 - Tips and Tricks

Hello All,

I have cleared CIS- Data Foundation (CMDB & CSDM) exam recently (Feb'26). There are lots of confusion spreading regarding this exam. I am trying here to answer some of the question which might be useful for the exam.

1. Best resources to prepare this exam

a) Dumps: Not recommended

b) First check syllabus thoroughly using https://learning.servicenow.com/lxp/en/credentials/certified-implentation-specialist-data-foundation...

c) Ingest, Govern, Insights should cover from below courses

CMDB Fundamentals
CMDB Health Micro-Certification Simulator
Configure the CMDB Micro-Certification Simulator

d) CSDM fundamental course (best option to cover this topic)

Put extra focus on CSDM 5.0 slide

If you have time to cover below topics (which is recommended though) and no prior experience on these modules:

a) All labs and Knowledge checks

b) CMDB Health Deep Dive

2. Passing criteria - It is not 70% servicenow is doing some normalization (formula is not officially shared). Just give your best.

3. Offline or Online - Offline (recommended) if you have no infra available at home.

4. Question type - Single selection, Matching type, Choose 2 options type questions

Thank you for sharing this valuable information in great detail. I appreciate your guidance.

I would like to add an additional point here. 3-4 of my friends have cleared the same exam this month, by just going through the dumps, with a prep of 5-6 days.

So, yes. If your goal is to gain a deep understanding of the fundamentals and CMDB then one must go through all the course materials. But if your primary goal is just to clear this as a pre-requisite for some other CIS certification, then I'd definitely recommend studying through dumps only.
