CIS Data Foundations exam

Hello all,

Hope you are having a nice day, I would like to ask, does anyone know how the process for obtaining CIS Data Foundation goes, by mistake I registered yesterday for the exam, and it is said there that I have 90 days to schedule and complete the exam.

So I am wondering, since the free exam period is until 30 June 2026 and my 90 days expire on 13/14 March, if I don't take the exam, can I simply just register for new one after these 90 days expire?

I am understanding this as, If I did not take the exam in these 90 days then I should be able to register again for new one, during the free period (30 June)

Can someone confirm this with me ? Appriciate it !

Hi guys, I am not sure all of you understood my point, I am aware that its free until 30 June 2026, my question is, after 90 days period after the registration, if you did not schedule and take the exam, and if you are stil in period of free trial (30 June), can you re-schedule again ?

Because in instructions it is said in Step 4 : Start at step 1 again

Hi @EdiH

As pointed by others, once you register for the exam, it is considered as an attempt even if you do not plan to attend it within the next 90 days. If you miss the time window of 90 days, You have to re-register for the exam and this time you will be required to pay the retake fees as its counted as second attempt not free attempt.

Raise a case in the Now Portal and let us know the response.

Hi @EdiH ,

As per the dates you mentioned, you will have to complete exam before 13 March. This is the response from ServiceNow support for such scenarios -

After completing exam registration, the exam status changes to Pending Scheduling. Users must schedule and complete the exam within 90 days of registration. If not completed within this timeframe, the exam will be marked as Expired, and re-registration at full price will be required.

Please note that we are not authorized to cancel or modify an active registration. Therefore, we recommend completing the exam before the expiration date to avoid additional charges.

Hi @EdiH

I understood your concern , See the moment you registered for the exam is considered as your first attempt , So If you didn't appear this time , then next you have to register again which will be considered as your second attempt , & in Second attempt you have to *pay irrespective of the free window which will be of $450 USD

Its better start preparing you have enough time

if my response helps, please mark helpful & Accept as Solution 🙂

Hi @EdiH

If you do not complete the CIS Data Foundation exam within your 90-day window, your registration will expire. You will need to register again and pay the full exam fee to attempt the exam once more. This process applies regardless of the free exam period; registration and completion must occur within each 90-day window, and expired registrations require a new registration and payment
