April 2026 | Core Business Suite

Hey CBS community! We've been busy over the past few months, and we're excited to share what's been cooking in the latest release of Core Business Suite. From a completely revamped setup experience to an AI assistant that actually helps you get things done — there's a lot to cover. Let's dig in.

Setup Just Got a Whole Lot Easier

One of our main goals we have been working towards is this: getting CBS up and running faster, with less headache. If you've ever had to configure a new application from scratch, you know how tedious that process can be. This release changes that.

A New Home in the Admin Dashboard

First things first — CBS now has its own dedicated entry point right on the Admin Homepage. No more hunting through menus. You'll see Core Business Suite listed front and center alongside Core ITSM, with a simple "Auto-Install Services" button to kick things off. It's a small change, but it signals something bigger: CBS is a first-class citizen in the ServiceNow admin experience.

Auto-Install: One Click, Fully Configured

This is the big one. Auto-Install lets you select the applications that fit your business needs and automatically configures the key building blocks — Employee Center, Requester Role, Intake Forms, Notifications, and Workspace — all in one shot. Default best-practice configurations are applied automatically, so you're not starting from zero.

You also get an at-a-glance dashboard showing exactly which CBS apps are installed and which ones are available to activate. It's the kind of visibility that makes managing a multi-department deployment actually manageable.

The Product Console: Your Setup Command Center

Once you're installed, the Product Console becomes your new best friend. Think of it as mission control for your CBS configuration. You get an overall progress view across all your activated applications — HR, Finance, Health & Safety, Legal, Workplace Services — with step-by-step guidance for each one. The best part? You can come back at any time and update settings without starting over. Everything is organized by application, so you're never lost wondering what still needs to be done. Why this matters: Faster deployment means faster time-to-value. For customers who've been putting off expanding CBS to new departments because setup felt daunting, this changes the equation entirely. Less time configuring = more time actually serving your employees.

Meet Now Assist for Setup

We don't want to just make setup faster, we want to make it smarter. The headline feature of the April release is Now Assist for Setup â€” and it's genuinely impressive.

AI-Guided Setup from Start to Finish

Now Assist for Setup brings an AI assistant directly into your configuration console. As you work through setup steps, Now Assist is right there in a conversational panel, ready to help. Need to configure groups for HR? It can populate them for you and show you a summary of what it did. Not sure whether your notifications are set up correctly? Ask it, and it'll give you the rundown with options to make changes on the spot.

What makes this feel different from a typical chatbot is that the AI is context-aware — it knows where you are in the setup process, what's already been configured, and what still needs attention. It's not just answering generic questions; it's actively helping you move through your checklist.

AI Indicators Throughout the Console

The console now surfaces AI indicators on items that have been auto-configured or have AI-assisted options available. You can see at a glance where AI has done work for you and where you might want to review or customize. It's a nice touch that keeps admins in control while still taking advantage of the automation.

The QuickStart Guide Lives On

With the QuickStart guide front and center, now complemented by the AI agent. Best-practice defaults are pre-applied, so the AI isn't starting from scratch — it's helping you refine and finalize a solid foundation.

Why this matters: Not every organization has a dedicated ServiceNow admin with deep CBS expertise. The AI Implementation Agent effectively puts that expertise in everyone's hands. Smaller teams can now confidently deploy and configure CBS without needing to lean heavily on professional services or spend days reading documentation.

The Bigger Picture

ServiceNow is making CBS dramatically easier to deploy and manage. This latest release tackles both the structural problem (too many manual steps, too little visibility) and the knowledge problem (what do I do next, and am I doing it right?).

For customers who've already adopted CBS in one department and have been hesitant to expand — now is a great time to take another look. The barrier to adding a second or third business unit has never been lower.
